Center pivot supports for flexural testing of brittle material specimens up to 200 mm (8.0) width in accordance with ASTM C78, ASTM C293, ASTM C348, ASTM D1635, and ASTM C1609.
Four supports are supplied for either 3 point or 4 point (sometimes referred to as third point) flexural testing.
Upper and lower supports are mounted to a t-slot base for adjustment of upper and lower spans.
- Lower support span: 76.2 mm to 920 mm (3.0 to 36.3 in)
- Upper support span: 76.2 mm to 420 mm (3.0 to 16.6 in)
- Support diameter - 76.2 mm (3.0 in)
- Specimen width - up to 200 mm (8.0 in)
- Support height - 66.7 mm (2.6 in)
Maximum Capacity of lower support fixture (applicable to 3 point flexure testing where upper span is zero):
- Overall maximum: 200 kN (45,000 lbf)
- If installed with overhang, capacity is rated per below
Capacity = 200kN (22,500 lbf) where x < 63 mm (2.5 in)
Capacity (kN) = 12,600/x when x > 63 mm
Capacity (lbf) = 111,900/x when x > 2.5 in
Where x = distance from end of machine loading table to lower flexure support
Maximum Capacity of upper loading nose fixture (applicable for 4 point (third point) flexure testing):
- Overall maximum: 200 kN (45,000 lbf)
- 100 mm (4 in) span: 200 kN (45,000 lbf)
- 150 mm (6 in) span: 165 kN (37,300 lbf)
- 200 mm (8 in) span: 124 kN (27,975 lbf)
- 250 mm (10 in) span: 99 kN (22,380 lbf)
- 300 mm (12 in) span: 83 kN (18,650 lbf)
