BS EN 455-2 describes the testing requirements for determination of physical properties, including
break strength, before and after accelerated aging, of medical gloves for single use, surgical gloves, examination/procedure gloves, long-cuff medical gloves, and seemed/welded gloves.
For this test, we recommend either of the following grips:
pneumatic side acting grips (as shown in the image) or mechanical elastomeric grips. Pneumatic grips have the advantage because they allow increased productivity and ensure that these high-elongation materials don't slip from the grips during a test.
Bluehill® 2 Software or
Bluehill Lite Software can adequately perform this test since only peak load is required.
In some cases, elongation values are also desired, although not required by the standard. For this we recommend a
long-travel extensometer that can handle over 1000% strain to ensure calculcation of strain at break.
