An Instron
® 8800 retrofit enables older servohydraulic and dynamic testing systems to be upgraded with the latest control electronics and
WaveMatrix™ Software for fatigue testing or dynamic tests; or
Bluehill® 2 Software for static tests. As many fatigue tester load frames are designed to last and can provide many years of reliable testing, the modernization and upgrade of the control system is a cost-effective way to extend the life of your existing installation and test using the latest techniques.
8800 upgrade packages are available for existing servohydraulic fatigue testing machines including Instron, Schenck, Dartec, MTS, Zwick, Shimadzu, Mayes, and other manufacturers.
Instron 8800 Upgrade Package
All retrofit kits feature the following basic elements:
- Advanced 8800 digital controller
- Hydraulic controls, Emergency Stop, and jog handset
- Console Operating Software
- Cable kit adapted to existing load frame, actuator, load cell, and other transducers
- Cable kit to either hydraulic power unit or hydraulic control manifold
- WaveMatrix™ Software for dynamic and fatigue tests
Hardware accessories options can be added including additional transducer channels, data acquisition cards, hardware operator panel, Dynacell™ load cells, replacement hydraulic power units, servo valves, or additional software, such as Bluehill 2, Low-Cycle Fatigue 3 (LCF3), da/dN, or K1C.
Instron Upgrade Process
The basic modernization and upgrade process usually includes:
- Decommissioning and removal of old controls and electronics
- Installation of the Instron advanced 8800 controller and cable sets
- Set up of testing system including load and position transducers
- Training on system operation and new materials testing software
- Local installation and service support from Instron Professional Services
- Factory-direct hardware and software support of your new software and controls
Further Support and Service options, such as accredited on-site calibration, maintenance, training, consultancy, and service support, can be tailored as required.
The 8800 Digital Controller is a state-of-the-art, fully-digital servohydraulic controller that utilizes Instron® core technologies, such as a 19-bit sensor resolution, 5 kHz update rates, and a patented Adaptive Control System.
|
Fatigue-rated Dynacell™ Load Cells feature built-in inertia compensation and help reduce dynamic load errors caused by grips and fixtures.
|
The high-efficiency 3520 Series of Hydraulic Power units are the perfect partner for your servohydraulic system, and can be configured with noise levels ranging from 58 - 63 dB (A).
|
Older Instron systems that are used for dynamic and fatigue tests can move into a legacy status as the electronics and component parts become harder to source or are made obsolete by the manufacturers. One of the options open to Instron customers is to extend the life of these systems by upgrading the machine with the latest digital control electronics.
